101 Unique Must-Eats of New York City
It’s been over 5 years since the EatBigApple franchise was created after a successful selling book, and much has changed in the New York landscape. In the city where things move a mile a minute, many businesses, and many beloved restaurants, have come and gone in the past 3 years. In fact, the first restaurant reviewed on this blog, sadly closed its door this April.
All of this, however, is nothing new to New Yorker. While life in the big apple is measured in the New York minute, there is a certain timeless aspect that withstood recessions and depressions. The finest talents always come to New York, and from these talented minds and senses, comes the best food in the world.
To present the latest in what the culinary world has to offer, we present Book 2.

The First Book: The Original Little Black Book….. in Green
Lisa Cheng was a journalist for the World Journal during her time in New York. Over the span of six years she covered upwards of 300 restaurants, from dirt cheap to organ-selling decadent. To her Chinese readers, she found them flavors most will have never even ventured to order. At the beginning she was no gourmet herself, but restaurant by restaurant she learned terms, trends, and ingredients—knowledge she quickly turned over to her readers.
She chose 70 restaurants that were the most unique and flavorful to her and compiled a book called Eat Big Apple. Among them were classics like Nobu and new comers like Chikalicious. For many of her readers, this was their first step onto the pedestal that was Manhattan cuisine.
However, New York is a place that cannot possibly be contained within the contents of a book. The organic nature of the City calls for the need for a more dynamic observer. In her stead, we began Eat Big Apple the blog, where we continue the legacy of tasting and telling.
