Back when I chose to name this blog Eat Big Apple, I intentionally limited my writing to restaurants in the New York City region. Living in NYC we’re blessed to be surrounded by so many acclaimed chefs, and four restaurants that has received 3 Michelin Stars.
Yet being a foodie, every time I travel outside of NYC, I look for food that I cannot sample in the city. Others plot their vacations around landmarks, I schedule my tourism around dining destinations.
This coming weekend I’m heading out to LA, and already I’ve scheduled many restaurants. Many famous Japanese chefs in New York made a name for themselves in the glitzy world of Hollywood, then expanding beyond cult status into mainstream after moving to New York. Does the competition in New York change them? How does their original restaurants stack up to the East Coast counterparts? This is my chance to try both, and I’ll have my first hand report upon my return.
