There are things people love about every season, this restaurant strives to be your constant. For the four sessions of the year, this park avenue restaurant transforms itself. Each quarter warrants new Décor and menus, morphed to fit the ingredients de la saison. Just as this season comes to an end, drop by and enjoy the last wisps of cold in comfort.
The restaurant is quintessential New York. Classic. Sleek. No nonsense. There are enough servers for a place triple their size and a clientele straight from their 5th avenue offices. Pressure is on when you’re sitting there, if you don’t own an apartment in a two mile radius at least wear your Sunday best. Now is when you fake it.
This is a place for wallet-blood-letting…well worth it. The food is flawless, and never second-grade fresh. The passion fruit sauce on my dish is particularly memorable, it’s been two months since then and is still mouth watering. Everything on the menu is designed by the head chef, and really, it’s quite an impressive mix of classic and innovation.
The entrees are just as delightful. After my lobster, happily swimming in clam chowder and infused with miso, I was ready to die happy…of high blood pressure. With the army of servers, the table side service is excellent, a good place to pamper your taste buds and your ego for two hours.
The desserts were perhaps for your the eyes then for flavor. Regardless, a nice wintery touch to the end of the meal, a sweet end before your check arrives and you return to the real winter wonderland outside.
Bundle up!
