Willy Wonka famously says in the movie that, has he mentioned? Chocolate makes you feel like you’re in love. What better place to take your valentine…especially if he or she isn’t in love with you already?
If C.S. were the one to write this, he would immediately tell you that Max Brenner is actually two people, both Israeli. Well, since he’s not Santa Claus, shouldn’t disillusion you too much. Take a couple moments to read the introduction in the menu, which contains quite the tale of how Max Brenner came to be.
Max Brenner’s is a chocolate lover’s paradise. If you’re on a diet, give it up, you know new years resolutions don’t stick anyway. From the chocolate pizzas to the triple chocolate concoctions, the first bites are sinfully satisfying. About maybe the third or fourth bite, depending on your tolerance for sugar, the law of diminishing marginal returns kick in. My suggestion is to also order some savory sandwiches that are free of chocolate influences.
Definitely try the drinks too, the chocolate granitas are to die for, as is my personal favorite, the cookies and cream mix. As long as you down some water to clean up your palette, this should be a good compliment. The Alice Cup and the Hug Mug, though seemingly small in volume, are cute enough to make you forget about that little detail.
I’ve personally only been to the one in Greenwich Village, but online there are extensive menus and information that vastly surpass what I am able to tell you.
For the gentlemen out there I don’t know what you can do about the flowers, but I’ve got the Chocolate aspect covered.
Happy Chocolate Day!
