Alice’s Tea Cup – A Fantasy Tea Party

A little girl’s wonderland, though not nearly as psychedelic as the book. This little cafe is perfect for an hour or two away from reality or for a little city tea party. Snuggled right on the corner of 73rd in the upper west side, Alice’s Tea Cup is cute, dainty, and might make you wait, but since you love your little girl or girl friends that shouldn’t be a deterrent…dsc00335

Walking in you are immediately surrounded by pink frills left and right, certainly not for the fainthearted. Teas line one side while more wearable merchandise pile on the other. The employees are a happy bunch, donning clothing as cheerful as their decor.

As you step into the next room, the atmosphere becomes a little more cozy as moms and daughters share some quality time over towers of cakes and scones. Sitting down, you’re faced with a tea menu and one for the rest of your tummy. The assortment of tea should satisfy most tea connoisseurs and the sandwiches are small and flavorful. Perhaps not the best food in town, but when you go to a place with servers in Alice-esque outfits, you’re not really going for the food. Deals like the madhatter, which can be shared by two make for an economical choice ($37 between two). Scones are made differently everyday, the daily varieties can be found posted outside.

This is a perfect place to sit back and embrace fully your feminine side, which leads me to my next point. I feel that it is important to mention that not a single gentleman was seen during my visit there, a good chance to test your boyfriend’s dedication to you or your clemency.

There are four locations, keep an eye out for them as you stroll through the city!
