畢業於政大外交系及外交研究所,曾獲中澳文經協會及亞太文社訪問獎學金,赴英國牛津社區學院進修結業,並通過牛津大學暨劍橋大學英文專精檢定考試。
在台期間,曾任銘傳大學英文講師、中國時報及聯合報編譯。由於隨外交官夫婿夏立言不定期的外派,先後成為《聯合報》駐倫敦、《民生報》駐華府、渥太華特派記者,現為《聯合報》系駐紐約特約記者,及美國《世界日報》的食評專欄作者。
著有《英倫隨筆》、《牛津散記》、《英國女王有請》、《有禮走天下》、《禮儀寶典》、《胡志強的胡言胡語》、《日安大使先生》、《談情說愛學英文》,並譯有《白宮內幕》、《不可思譯的旅程:動物的遷徙》、《狂戀大提琴》、《一畝心田》、《心靈點滴》等書。

That was the quote that began every episode of the original Iron Chef. I was seven when I was addicted to the shiny costumes and sinfully appetizing food on the screen. Ever since then, I’ve never stopped finding myself in sauces, greens, and proteins. In the same way people should always keep an open mind, always keep a open palette.
